Job summary

As a Salaried GP at the Carden Surgery you will provide comprehensive general medical services, including face-to-face and remote consultations, management of acute and chronic conditions, and preventative healthcare. You will work collaboratively with our wider clinical team including nurses, pharmacists, and other ARRS roles to ensure our patients needs are met.

Within the position there is an expectation that you would work as the ‘Duty Doctor’ on a rotation basis to support our practice triage system and ensure we deliver the amended GP contract requirement of ensuring all clinically urgent patients are seen on the day.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care
  • Manage a varied clinical caseload across routine and urgent appointments
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
  • Contribute to practice development and quality improvement initiatives
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team working
  • Deliver the ‘Duty Doctor’ role as part of a fair practice rotation system

Requirements

  • GMC registered GP with licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the NHS Performers list
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Strong clinical skills and commitment to high standards of care
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A proactive and adaptable approach

About us

Carden Surgery is a well-established NHS GP practice located at the County Oak Medical Centre on Carden Hill in Brighton, serving a diverse patient population of just over 8,500 individuals across the Brighton and Hove area. The practice operates as part of the wider North and Central Primary Care Network (PCN) and also includes a branch site in Coldean, The New Larchwood Surgery, enabling accessible care across the community.

We are a three-partner practice supported by a team of four salaried GPs, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality primary care services. The practice is rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), reflecting its commitment to safe, effective, and patient-centred care within the NHS framework.
