Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Practice Nurse to join our friendly and forward-thinking team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leadership role within a supportive primary care environment, helping shape and develop high-quality patient care services.

About the role

As Lead Practice Nurse, you will provide strong clinical leadership to the nursing team while maintaining a high standard of hands-on patient care. You will play a key role in service development, quality improvement, and supporting the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and day-to-day support to the nursing team
• Deliver high-quality chronic disease management and treatment room services
• Support and develop nursing protocols, policies, and best practice standards
• Lead on clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and QOF-related activity
• Support staff training, mentoring, and professional development
• Ensure safe, evidence-based practice in line with current guidelines
• Work collaboratively with GPs, allied health professionals, and administrative teams
• Oversee infection prevention and control standards within the practice

About you

We are looking for someone who is:

• A qualified Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
• Experienced in primary care/general practice nursing
• Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room procedures
• A strong communicator with proven leadership or supervisory experience
• Organised, proactive, and committed to high-quality patient care
• Passionate about supporting team development and service improvement

Desirable experience

• Experience in a lead or senior nurse role within general practice
• Knowledge of QOF, audits, and clinical governance
