We are looking for a skilled Electoral Services Administration Officer to join our Electoral Services and Civic team.This is an exciting opportunity to deliver excellent Electoral Services to Wyre residents and provide high-level support to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and the Returning Officer (RO) in the administration of all elections and referendums in the borough.

You will also support the Mayors civic officer in managing the day-to-day diary of the Mayor and delivering annual events, and the Democratic Services team on an ad-hoc basis with council proceedings.

About the roleIn this challenging and varied role you will:

Assist with planning and delivery of all elections, referenda and governance reviews

Maintain the Electoral register

Process applications for postal votes, Voter ID and overseas electors

Help deliver the annual canvass

Review and process annual postal vote renewals

Deal with elector queries by phone and e-mail

Learn how to maintain and update the Councils Electoral and Civic website content

Attend in-house and external training to develop your skills in the role

Co-manage the Mayoral diary, and assist in delivering annual events, such as Remembrance Sunday service, Annual Council and flag raising ceremonies

Adhere to GDPR regulations to ensure the protection of elector data.

We’re seeking someone who is:

An excellent communicator with strong customer service skills, both written and spoken

Willing and able to work unsocial hours: evenings, weekend & flexible working as required during busy election periods.

A collaborative team player who can also work independently

Experienced in local government administrative roles, ideally in an elections environment, although this is not essential

Willing to develop - making every effort to access learning opportunities
