Job summary
As our current Practice Manager plans to retire in the next few years, we are offering a flexible recruitment opportunity. We are open to appointing one candidate for a full succession-planning role (Assistant transitioning to Practice Manager), or two candidates to split the operational and strategic leadership functions according to their strengths.
You will work side-by-side with our current Practice Manager and GP Partners, receiving mentoring, targeted professional development, and gradual delegation of strategic responsibilities until you are fully equipped to assume total leadership of the business and operational functions of the practice.
Responsibilities
Assist with day-to-day non-clinical operations, IT systems, human resources, staff line management, and maintaining CQC compliance under the guidance of the Practice Manager.
Take ownership of specific workflows such as rota management, patient feedback, and contractual targets (QOF, enhanced services).
Assume ultimate responsibility for practice leadership, strategic planning, financial budgeting, and external stakeholder engagement (ICB and PCN) upon the departure of the current manager.
Requirements
The person specification
Experience: proven administrative or operational supervisory experience, ideally within an NHS general practice or primary care setting
Skills: exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with strong IT literacy (EMIS Web experience is a distinct advantage)
Mindset: proactive, resilient, commercially aware, and eager to step up into a senior executive leadership role

We have a dedicated team working with the partners and practice manager to ensure the smooth running of the surgery is maintained.
