Health & Wellbeing Community Connector (2 posts available)

Grade 5 £26,824 - £28,598

Part Time – 28 Hours per week

Are you passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of local communities? Do you enjoy engaging with people and helping them access the support they need to make positive changes to their lives?

We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated Health & Wellbeing Community Connectors to join our Leisure, Healthy Lifestyles & Communities Team on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2029.

These exciting new roles have been funded by Lancashire County Council's Public Health Team to help reduce tobacco smoking rates in areas of Wyre where smoking prevalence remains high. Working directly within communities, you will have meaningful health-related conversations with residents, helping them understand the benefits of stopping smoking and connecting them to the support available through Smoke Free Lancashire.

As a Health & Wellbeing Community Connector, you will spend much of your time working in local neighbourhoods, community venues and at events across the borough. You will engage with residents, build relationships with voluntary, community and faith sector organisations, and promote a range of preventative health initiatives designed to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.

We're looking for individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who are confident engaging with people from a wide range of backgrounds. You will have experience of working within communities, building partnerships and promoting positive behaviour change. Most importantly, you will have the enthusiasm, resilience and motivation to support residents in making healthier lifestyle choices.

A Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area, a full driving licence and access to suitable transport are essential. Evening and occasional weekend working will be required to support community engagement activities.

What's in it for you?

Flexi-time and the option to work remotely part of the week, as agreed with your line manager.

Free parking on site.

Generous annual leave allowance: a minimum of 24 days (pro rata) in addition to bank holidays, rising with service.

Future development through face-to-face and virtual learning opportunities.

Employee wellbeing support.

Local Government Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions.

The opportunity to make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of residents and communities across Wyre.

If you are passionate about community engagement, health improvement and supporting local people to make positive lifestyle changes, we would love to hear from you.

Position type: Part Time
