We are looking for an experienced maker with a passion for educating the next generation of engineers. Your skills will include the latest rapid prototyping technology, enhancing excellent hands-on engineering teaching. You will supervise teaching spaces supporting a varied user base, delivering training and support for a variety of equipment, liaising with stakeholders, planning for future sessions and providing support for the best possible practical teaching in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

What will you be doing?

Working as the first point of contact for students and academics regarding the teaching space.

Supervising teaching space, including consumable levels, practical support, inductions and maintenance.

Liaising with academic staff to provide ongoing support to current and future practical taught lessons.

Supporting other areas of the team as and when required.

Reacting and resolving issues as they arise.

Ensuring safe/good working practices in the teaching space.

Maintaining rapid prototyping equipment for student use. .

You should apply if

You enjoy working with young people to enable them to reach their potential.

You have hands on experience with rapid prototyping tools and equipment.

You have experience in the use and maintenance of new equipment including

laser cutters and 3D printers

You know how to work safely in an engineering environment.

You have experience of teaching or coaching, ideally in an educational context

Additional information

Contract type: Fixed-term until 31/01/2028 (cover position)
