Job summary
Clinical Practice
- Deliver safe, evidence-based care in line with national guidance, local pathways and Federation policies.
- Complete accurate, contemporaneous clinical records within the clinical system and ensure effective communication with the patient's registered practice where required.
- Promote self-management, prevention and healthy lifestyle advice to support improved patient outcomes.
Collaboration & Service Delivery
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team across Federation sites, maintaining effective relationships with practice teams and partner organisations.
- Support the delivery of safe, accessible and high-quality Enhanced Access services across all Federation locations.
- Escalate clinical or operational concerns appropriately in line with Federation policies.
- Contribute to service improvement, clinical audits and quality assurance activities.
- Maintain awareness of local referral pathways and ensure patients are signposted to the most appropriate services.
Leadership, Governance & Professional Development
- Maintain professional registration, mandatory training and continuing professional development in line with regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to clinical governance activities, including incident reporting, significant event reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
- Actively contribute to maintaining CQC standards and the continuous improvement of the Enhanced Access Service.
Main duties of the job
To provide safe, effective and patient-centred clinical care as a locum FCP within the GP Federation Enhanced Access Service. The postholder will assess, diagnose and manage patients within their scope of practice, working flexibly across Federation sites to deliver high-quality care during Enhanced Access hours. They will maintain accurate clinical records and comply with professional standards, clinical governance, Federation policies and CQC requirements.

Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of managing patients with a variety of conditions and complex needs.
- Demonstrates expert clinical reasoning skills in MSK physiotherapy.
- Ability to implement evidence-based practice principles
- Good self-management and ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks as appropriate.
- Evidence of appropriate post-graduate training in a broad range of appropriate specialist areas.
- Evidence of First contact practitioner (FCP) training
- Evidence of providing professional advice /support
- Evidence of collaborative working within a multi-professional team.
Desirable
- Experience of working in Primary Care and First Contact Practitioner roles.
- Evidence of involvement in Service Improvement initiatives and outcomes.
- Experience of initiating change
- Previous experience working in Primary Care
Qualifications
Essential
- BSc degree in Physiotherapy
- Registration with the HCPC
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Minimum of 3 years MSK experience
Desirable
- MSc degree in Physiotherapy
- Completed or working towards a Supplementary Prescribing qualification or non-medical prescribing qualification training will be supported in post.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Be flexible and adaptable to cope with unpredictable situations.
- Awareness and understanding of the MSK Competency Framework for FCPs.
- Ability to implement evidence-based practice principles
- Ability to manage a case load of patients independently with complex musculoskeletal dysfunction, acute and chronic pain
- Good self-management and ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks as appropriate.
- Computer literate for record keeping, communication and data collection.
- Aware of own limitations
Desirable
- Experience of working and have a good understanding of Systm One clinical platform
