Are you a passionate psychologist or psychotherapist looking to use your expertise to create lasting change for people with complex needs while helping to reduce reoffending and improve lives?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Psychologist to join our specialist Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (IIRMS), working with adults on probation across North Yorkshire and Humberside who are screened into the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway. This is a rewarding opportunity to apply your clinical skills in a psychologically informed, multidisciplinary environment, delivering specialist assessment, formulation and intervention to individuals presenting with complex risks and needs. As part of our therapeutic offer, you will also have the opportunity to deliver EMDR therapy, with training available if required.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll manage a caseload, provide clinical supervision, contribute to service development, and work closely with probation and partner agencies to deliver psychologically informed support. We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:
- Registration with the HCPC and experience of working with adults with a range of difficulties and clinical presentations.
- Strong assessment, formulation and risk management skills, with the ability to communicate complex psychological concepts to a range of stakeholders.
- A good understanding of the principles of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway and Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Services (IIRMS).
Job description
- Manage a highly specialised caseload of adults on probation who are assessed as presenting with complex risk and needs.
- Assess and monitor risk and develop interventions to manage identified risk, and contribute to multi-disciplinary care planning around risk, in line with organisational and inter-agency policies and procedures.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes using validated psychometric measures and other assessment techniques.
- Communicate complex and specialist information effectively to clients and significant others/relevant workers within the Criminal Justice system and other partner organisations.
- Provide specialist psychological expertise, consultation and advice to colleagues and stakeholders on clients psychological care and risk management.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with professionals from other health and criminal justice services regarding a clients psychological care, including building links with Probation and other services working with clients in the pathway, sharing ideas and providing support to encourage psychologically informed and consistent support.
- Develop complex formulations for adults on probation assessed as posing a high or very high risk of serious harm based on a range of theoretical perspectives.
- Provide formal clinical supervision on psychological interventions to colleagues and trainee therapists as agreed with the Clinical Lead and as appropriate to the role.
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines, organisational policies and procedures and the overall framework of the Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service, maintaining accountability for professional practice and decision making
- Contribute to and help develop robust mechanisms for audit, data collection and clinical governance.
- Support the development of psychological intervention skills and knowledge within the Service and wider organisation.
- Contribute to policy and service development as appropriate to the role and in line with the standards set by the OPD Commissioners.
- Maintain accurate, timely and compliant client records and other information systems.
- Delivery psychologically informed support that is meaningful, respectful, promotes self-determination and aligns with the individual formulation and Intervention plan.
- Promote and support a positive client-led service culture and philosophy.
- Support the design and delivery of training to partners involved in the OPD Pathway.
- Maintain accreditation with the relevant professional body, i.e. HCPC, and complete required training, including Compassion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy training and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.
