Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and motivated Public Health Practitioner to lead the development and delivery of a public health programme at Oakhill Secure Training Centre. This is a programme and service development role, where you will lead, coordinate and evaluate public health initiatives across the establishment. We welcome applicants from public health, nursing, allied health, social work and health promotion backgrounds. If you hold a professional registration, you will maintain it and work within your code of conduct and scope of practice.

This is not a clinical role. You wont carry out clinical procedures unless you are suitably qualified, trained, assessed as competent and authorised, and responsibility for clinical decisions, diagnostics, prescribing, referrals and medical follow-up remains with registered clinicians.

Working within the Secure Stairs framework, you will take a trauma-informed, child-centred and strengths-based approach, embedding public health throughout the setting. You will work closely with healthcare, operational, education and psychology colleagues, as well as youth justice professionals, local authorities, NHS England, UKHSA and community health services.

Ensure continuity of care through transfer, release and transition to adult services

Analyse data, run audits and report to senior leaders
