About the role

Are you a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional looking to make a real difference in people's lives during some of their most challenging moments?

We are looking for a committed and experienced AMHP to join our dedicated AMHP Hub based in Dorchester. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside highly skilled professionals in a supportive and collaborative service, delivering statutory Mental Health Act duties across Dorset.

About the role

As a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), you will assume the responsibility of fulfilling statutory duties outlined in the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and the Care Act. You will play an invaluable role in our 24/7 service, offering support to individuals during their most challenging times.

You will work collaboratively with health colleagues, emergency services, carers and other partner agencies to ensure people receive timely, lawful and person-centred interventions.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a specialist team environment while maintaining close links with teams and services across Adult Social Care and our health partners.

Join us as an AMHP and become an indispensable part of the mental health system, making significant contributions to the overall well-being of the Dorset communities. Your assessments and coordinated interventions can positively alter someone's life trajectory, ensuring they receive the necessary care and support.

About you

You will be a qualified and registered professional with current AMHP approval and a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act and Human Rights legislation.

You will also have:

Experience of undertaking Mental Health Act assessments.

Excellent assessment, risk management and decision-making skills.

The ability to work calmly and effectively in crisis situations.

Strong communication, negotiation and partnership-working abilities.

Experience of working with individuals with complex mental health needs.

A commitment to strengths-based practice and delivering positive outcomes for people and their families.

Most importantly, you will share our values of Respect, Responsibility, Recognition and One Team, demonstrating compassion, professionalism and a commitment to continuous improvement.

What we can offer you

We are committed to supporting your professional and personal wellbeing.

We offer:

A supportive and experienced management team.

Regular professional supervision and reflective practice.

Ongoing AMHP training and development opportunities.

A comprehensive employee wellbeing offer.

Flexible and hybrid working arrangements where service needs allow.

Generous annual leave entitlement.

Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
