LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive university

Salary is competitive and no less than £44,143 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for two years with potential to extend for a further eight months

This post will commence on 4 January 2027

LSE100, LSE’s flagship interdisciplinary course taken by all first-year undergraduates, is recruiting a creative educator committed to innovative interdisciplinary teaching to join our team. LSE100 is an internationally-recognised, sector-leading course which introduces LSE students to the School’s mission, builds their capacity to tackle complex problems, and explores transformative global challenges.

The successful candidate will teach a minimum of eight fortnightly seminar groups (approximately six classroom hours per week) and contribute to the design and development of course materials, while developing their own research agenda. They will join an enthusiastic community of interdisciplinary educators and will have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues both within LSE100 and across LSE. The successful candidate will also perform administrative duties while fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for LSE100 students.

LSE100 offers three themes for students to choose from as their focus of study. In 2026/27, these are: How can we control AI?, How can we transform our climate futures?, and How can we create a fair society? The ability to demonstrate research-informed interest and expertise in teaching across multiple themes is an asset. For this post, we are looking for individuals who have an interest in teaching on our How can we create a fair society? theme, and whose research interests connect to the topics of social division, cohesion and/or polarisation.

Candidates should have completed or be close to completing a PhD in a social science or related discipline. Relevant teaching and assessment experience particularly in an interdisciplinary context, the ability to work closely with and learn from colleagues, and excellent communication and organisational skills, are also essential. The other criteria used in shortlisting for this post can be found in the person specification on LSE’s recruitment system.

Please note that at least one of the referees for this application should be someone who has overseen or managed the candidate’s teaching.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, and excellent training and development opportunities.

For further information about the post, please see the how to apply document, job description and the person specification.

To apply for this post, please click the 'Apply' button above. If you have any technical queries with applying on the online system, please use the “contact us” links at the bottom of the LSE Jobs page. Should you have any queries about the role, please email [email protected].

The closing date for receipt of applications is 8 November 2026 (23.59 UK time). Regrettably, we are unable to accept any late applications. Interviews are expected to take place on the LSE campus on 19 and 20 November 2026.

An LSE Fellowship is intended to be an entry route to an academic career and is deemed by the School to be a career development position.  As such, applicants who have already been employed as an LSE Fellow for three years in total are not eligible to apply. If you have any queries about this please contact the HR Division.
