Are you passionate about creating healthier, more active communities?

Hosted by City of York Council, this exciting role is a joint appointment between the Council and North Yorkshire Sport, the county’s Active Partnership.

We are seeking an ambitious, collaborative and curious professional to help drive a whole-systems approach to movement, physical activity and sport across York.

You’ll work across local government, health, sport, leisure, voluntary and community sector organisations to help create the conditions that enable more people to be active, more often.

This is an opportunity to influence change at a strategic level while also supporting practical action that improves lives, reduces inactivity, tackles health inequalities and helps communities thrive.

This role will also help connect public health, social care, NHS and voluntary sector partners around prevention; embeding movement and physical activity in population health policy and practice.

You’ll have the benefit of being part of two fantastic and supportive teams, one in local government and the other in the voluntary sector. The City of York Council are based in West Offices, right in the heart of York. North Yorkshire Sport are based at the Bilton Health and Wellbeing Hub, on the edge of Harrogate.

This post is suitable as a job sharing position.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

City of York Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Council is committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution.

You will also benefit from training and continuous professional development with the North Yorkshire Sport Team, complementing the City of York Council offer.

We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition, we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.

Philip Truby (Head of Public Health at City of York Council) at [email protected] or on 07767 318 091.

Damien Smith (Deputy Chief Executive at North Yorkshire Sport) at [email protected] or on 01423 637652.
