Do you have the creativity, enthusiasm, and experience of working with care experienced young people to make a positive difference to their lives? If so, a Personal Advisor role in the North Lincolnshire Leaving Care Team may be for you.

North Lincolnshire Council strives to be the best place to live and work. We are committed to achieving the best outcomes for children, young people, and families, and to making a genuine difference in their lives. Our innovative One Family Approach ensures we work collaboratively with young people and partners to create the best possible opportunities and support.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Personal Advisor (PA) within our Leaving Care Team, part of our Outstanding Social Care Workforce. If you are driven, flexible, highly motivated, and passionate about supporting care leavers to thrive as they move toward independence, then this is the role for you.

As a Personal Advisor, you will work with young people aged 16–25 who are Eligible, Relevant, Former Relevant, and Qualifying Care Leavers. You will develop positive, trusted relationships and provide practical and emotional support to help young people make a successful transition into adulthood.

This includes supporting them to develop key life skills, such as managing money, maintaining a home, accessing health services, building emotional resilience, and understanding their entitlements under the Leaving Care Act (2000).

You will also support young people to explore and access education, employment, and training opportunities, helping them build confidence and aspirations for the future. Using a strengths-based, relationship-focused approach, you will empower young people to identify their goals, make informed choices, and overcome challenges as they move toward independence.

Your role will include coordinating and contributing to Pathway Plans, ensuring that support is purposeful, reviewed regularly, and centred around the young person’s wishes, feelings, and needs. You will work closely with social workers, partner agencies, housing services, education providers, and other corporate parents to ensure that young people receive consistent, high-quality support.

You will have experience of working with young people or adults in a role that delivers positive outcomes, preferably within social care, youth work, education, or similar settings. You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships, and the confidence to advocate for young people’s rights and needs. You will work collaboratively with young people to assess their support needs, plan and deliver appropriate interventions, and monitor progress.

This includes offering guidance around budgeting, health and wellbeing, managing responsibilities, widening social networks, and accessing training, employment, or volunteering.

Our social care workforce is built on enthusiasm, professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to excellence. We invest in learning and development to promote reflective, innovative, and high-quality practice, supporting you to grow and develop in your role.

Please see attached job description and employee specification which you should refer to when completing your application to demonstrate you meet the essential criteria for the role.

Any additional information or questions please contact Claire Basker e-mail: [email protected].

The planed job interview date is the 12/11/2026

Candidates must be able to evidence their right to work in the UK.  Please note the council does not hold a sponsor licence to sponsor people to work in the UK.

As an employer, we promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect the same commitment from existing and prospective employees or volunteers. Recruitment to this post will follow our safer recruitment procedure which includes us requesting references prior to interview and a DBS check.
