In Wolverhampton we are relentless in our ambition for people with care and support needs to live gloriously, ordinary lives, living in the place they call home, with the people and things they love, doing what matters to them.

We truly believe good social care can transform lives.

If you share this vision then we want to hear from you!

Why join us?

We’re not just another local authority. We’re a forward-thinking, responsive organisation with a clear vision: to empower our social workers to spend their time doing what matters most: connecting with people and families to support them to live their idea of a good life. We are proud of our:

Visible, supportive leadership: Our senior managers are approachable, responsive, and genuinely listen.

Strong social work development pathway: We offer a rich and responsive training programme tailored to the challenges of modern practice

Use of innovative approaches that work for you and people we support: we’re embracing innovation and technology to free up your time for meaningful work and help people live more independently

You’ll be joining us at a pivotal moment in our journey. We’ve reshaped our services into three new areas: Early Support, Ageing Well and Safeguarding, and Disabilities and Mental Health, based on what matters most to the people we support and the professionals who work with them, making sure people receive the right support, at the right time, by the right person.

This transformation is about more than structure; it’s about creating a service that’s fit for the future, focused on outcomes, and built on trust, respect, and collaboration. As a result, we are investing in our social work workforce and have a number of social work posts across the new service areas.

About the Role – Adult Safeguarding

This is your chance to thrive in a team that will empower you to play a vital role in helping people at a crucial time in their lives. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking, compassionate service that values your voice, nurtures your development, and champions your wellbeing, where no one day is the ever the same.

We are looking for passionate and dedicated support officers who are curious and non-judgemental about the different lives we all lead and can use a creative and person centred approach to working with individuals, families and carers.

Provide good quality, timely advice and information to people

Highlighting situations of high risk/urgency when receiving and processing safeguarding referrals

Collating information from a variety of sources to support informed decision making within the team, and documenting this accurately

Contributing to the development and new initiatives within the team

We use the Three Conversations approach, which is a strengths-based, person-centred approach that helps us think about: “What does a good life look like to you?” From there, we work together to ensure the support we offer is tailored, empowering, and safe, promoting choice, dignity, wellbeing, and independence.

In this role you will have the unique opportunity to specialise in safeguarding, developing your skills and confidence. If you’re curious, open to new ideas and committed to reducing harm, then we would love to hear from you!

Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.

Please refer to the Job Description for further information on the workstyle assigned to the role you are applying for.
