The Isle of Wight NHS Trust are searching for an experienced and passionate Healthcare Assistant to join their highly skilled team.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work under the guidance of registered nurses or senior staff to provide hands-on physical and emotional care to patients.

Job description

• Personal Care: Help patients with washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, and using the toilet or commode.
• Nutrition & Hydration: Serve meals, help feed patients who need assistance, and monitor fluid intake.
• Mobility & Safety: Help patients move around safely, use mobility aids, or use equipment like hoists.
• Vital Signs & Observations: Monitor and record temperatures, pulse, respiration, weight, and blood pressure as instructed.
• Clinical Support (Varies by Setting): Assist with basic clinical tasks such as changing bed linens, restocking supplies, collecting lab samples (e.g., urine or stool), or preparing treatment rooms.
• Communication & Record Keeping: Update patient notes, report changes in a patients condition to nurses, and reassure families.
