Senior Achievement Support Assistant (SASA)
Are you the kind of person who builds trust where others have struggled?
Wragby School is seeking an exceptional Senior Achievement Support Assistant to join our new Connect Pathway, a highly bespoke provision designed for young people with the most complex support needs.
Our first cohort will consist of just three pupils, growing to a maximum of six. All pupils will have complex learning profiles, including needs in the following areas:
Communication and Interaction.
Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
Cognition and Learning.
All of these learners will have experienced significant challenges in previous educational placements, including specialist settings.
This is not a traditional classroom role.
The successful candidate will spend significant amounts of time working alongside pupils in the community, helping them build relationships, develop confidence, access meaningful experiences and achieve outcomes that matter to them.
You will initially work alongside existing care providers and families within the community to establish trusting relationships and gain a deep understanding of each young person before they transition into education at Wragby School.
Once capital works have been completed, our Connect Pathway pupils will have access to a newly renovated building which has been carefully re-designed specifically to meet the needs of this cohort.
What makes this role unique?
Working within a very small, highly individualised provision
Supporting young people on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis when required
Delivering learning and developmental opportunities in community settings
Playing an active role in establishing a brand-new specialist pathway
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on care, education and wellbeing
Helping young people re-engage with education after previous placement breakdowns
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting children or young people with complex needs
Can build authentic, trusting relationships
Remains calm, resilient and flexible in challenging situations
Understands that progress may look different for every child
Is willing to work in a range of settings including homes, community venues and school
Can contribute to planning, record keeping and communication with families and professionals
Shares our belief that every child deserves a provision which adapts to them
In return we offer:
The opportunity to help shape a pioneering specialist provision
Extensive CPD and specialist autism training
Supportive leadership and multidisciplinary working
Small caseloads and meaningful relationship-based practice
The chance to make a genuine difference to young people who have often been let down by education
If you are passionate about building relationships, creating opportunities and helping young people reconnect with learning, we would love to hear from you.
