This post is temporary for a period of 3 years.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

The Senior Engineer role is a technical, varied and hands-on position, with a strong focus on modern device management, endpoint security and automated application and operating-system deployment. You will help manage and secure the Council’s endpoint environment, provide specialist technical guidance, resolve complex issues and contribute to projects and continuous service improvement.

Key responsibilities include the following:

Support the security and compliance of the Council’s endpoint estate, helping to implement, maintain and improve technical controls that protect Council devices and data.

Support and manage the Council’s endpoint estate using modern, centralised device-management technologies.

Develop, maintain and improve automated processes for application packaging and deployment, operating-system provisioning, configuration, patching and updating.

Contribute to change, release and service-transition activities, monitoring performance, compliance and risks to ensure changes are introduced securely and effectively.

Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, taking ownership through to resolution and providing clear advice and guidance to customers and ICT colleagues.

We encourage you to contact Paul Musgrove via email at [email protected] to arrange an informal discussion about the role.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need a degree or equivalent qualification in computing or a related discipline and/or in-depth experience of working with centralised device management systems and automated application and operating system deployment tools.

You will have a strong technical background in endpoint security and the management of modern endpoint environments, with experience of implementing and maintaining security controls alongside application and operating system deployment, configuration, patching and updating technologies. You will be confident investigating and resolving complex technical issues and able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

Please refer to the attached Person Specification for the full criteria.

If successful, you will be required to apply for a Basic Disclosure.
