Job summary

Langdon Hills Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join the practice, and support the nursing team, on a full or part-time basis, for at least 25 hours per week. Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas.

Main duties of the job

• Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines;
• New patient health checks;
• Re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines;
• Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms;
• Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations;
• Providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.
