Main duties of the job
Develop your clinical skills and confidence
Your development will reflect your experience, interests and the needs of your appointed ward. Through local induction, relevant education, supervised practice and competency assessment, you will build the knowledge and confidence to care for your patient group.
Depending on your clinical area, this could include developing skills in intravenous therapy, cardiac monitoring, respiratory support, enteral feeding, frailty assessment or rehabilitation.
As you gain experience, there are opportunities to develop your leadership skills, work towards nurse-in-charge competencies, support students and newly qualified colleagues, and contribute to quality improvement. Regular appraisal and a personal development plan will help you identify your next steps.
Make a difference throughout the patient journey
You will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised nursing care, working closely with patients, families and carers. Alongside nursing and medical colleagues, therapists, pharmacists and community services, you will support patients to recover, manage their conditions and prepare for a safe discharge.
We welcome applications from experienced Registered Adult Nurses and newly qualified nurses. Current NMC registration is required before starting in the role.
You will work a range of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
