Support ManagerNHS
Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Band 6 Support Manager to join our Criminal Justice Liaison & Diversion and Reconnect services.
This is a varied role combining operational leadership and clinical practice, with an indicative split of 60% deputy/team management responsibilities and 40% Band 6 Lead Practitioner duties.
Working closely with the Team Manager, Clinical Lead and wider leadership team, you will help coordinate the day-to-day running of services, support a multidisciplinary workforce of around 40 colleagues, and provide leadership across workforce, performance, quality, risk, governance and service improvement.
Alongside this, you will retain a meaningful clinical role, undertaking assessments, contributing to risk management and care planning, supporting complex cases and working directly with people across criminal justice pathways.
Our services work across police custody, courts, probation, prisons and community settings, supporting people with a wide range of mental health, neurodevelopmental, substance misuse and social vulnerabilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop further as an operational leader while maintaining clinical practice and making a real contribution to service development across L&D and Reconnect.
Main duties of the job
The role will provide day-to-day operational support across Liaison & Diversion and Reconnect, working closely with the Team Manager and Clinical Lead to help coordinate a multidisciplinary workforce of around 35 colleagues. Responsibilities will include workforce and rota coordination, supervision and appraisal, sickness and attendance processes, recruitment, performance monitoring, quality improvement, incident and risk management, complaints, governance, service pressures and business continuity. The post holder will deputise for agreed operational duties when required and support consistent, safe and effective service delivery across multiple sites and pathways.
The clinical element of the role will include working as a Band 6 Lead Practitioner across the criminal justice pathway. This may involve undertaking assessments, risk formulation and care planning, supporting complex cases, providing advice and guidance to colleagues and partner agencies, contributing to multidisciplinary decision-making and maintaining a small caseload or defined episodes of care. Clinical practice will be undertaken within the post holder's professional registration, competence and agreed service priorities.
