Make a difference at the heart of Pembrokeshire County Council

Are you an experienced Executive PA who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with senior leaders?

We're looking for a highly organised, proactive and professional individual to provide executive support to our Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Place.

This is far more than diary management.

This is an opportunity to work directly alongside one of the Council's most senior leaders, supporting strategic decision-making and helping deliver services that make a real difference to communities across Pembrokeshire. You'll be a trusted partner, helping to coordinate complex priorities, manage sensitive matters and ensure the smooth running of a diverse and ambitious Directorate.

Working closely with Heads of Service, elected Members, government bodies, external partners and senior officers, you'll gain a unique insight into how local government operates at the highest level while playing a key role in helping us achieve our corporate priorities.

No two days are the same. This role offers variety, responsibility and the chance to work at the centre of important conversations and decisions that shape the future of Pembrokeshire.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you'll:

  • Manage complex and ever-changing diaries, priorities and correspondence
  • Act as a trusted point of contact on behalf of the Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Place
  • Coordinate high-level meetings, programme boards and governance activities
  • Prepare professional correspondence, reports, agendas and briefing papers
  • Build strong working relationships with Members, senior leaders, partners and stakeholders
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
  • Anticipate issues, identify solutions and help ensure priorities stay on track
  • Work collaboratively with Executive PA colleagues to provide resilient support across the organisation and maintain continuity of service when required

About you

You'll be an experienced Executive PA, Personal Assistant, Executive Assistant or senior business support professional who is confident working with senior leaders in a busy and complex environment.

You'll bring:

  • Outstanding organisational and prioritisation skills
  • The ability to manage multiple competing demands
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent judgement, discretion and professionalism
  • Confidence working independently and proactively
  • Experience managing confidential and sensitive information
  • Strong digital skills, including Microsoft 365
  • The ability to remain calm, organised and solutions-focused in a fast-moving environment

Experience within local government or the public sector would be beneficial, but we also welcome applications from individuals with transferable executive support experience gained in other sectors.

Why join us?

In return, we can offer:

  • A role at the heart of a large and ambitious local authority
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making
  • Opportunities to develop your professional skills and experience
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • A range of employee wellbeing and staff benefits
  • The opportunity to contribute to services that improve the lives of residents across Pembrokeshire

If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact, work with influential leaders and be part of something bigger, we'd love to hear from you.
