We’re looking for a motivated and organised Assistant Street Lighting Engineer (Traffic Signals) to help manage, maintain and monitor highway electrical assets, traffic signals and related systems.
This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in highway electrical infrastructure, asset management to help keep street lighting and traffic signals running safely and effectively across the county.

About the role

You’ll help keep highway electrical asset records up to date, monitor routine maintenance and Distribution Network Operator works, arrange repairs to traffic signal faults, review inspections, and support works issued by North Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency.

You’ll work with contractors, statutory bodies, internal teams and members of the public to make sure enquiries, faults and maintenance issues are handled promptly and helpfully.

What you’ll be doing

• Maintaining and reviewing asset management records, including GIS and highway electrical equipment data.
• Inspecting installed equipment and identifying structural, electrical or safety-related defects.
• Monitoring highway electrical maintenance and capital improvement works programmes.
• Liaising with the Distribution Network Operator and contractors in relation to supply faults, new connections and transfers.
• Monitoring traffic signal remote monitoring systems and arranging fault repairs.
• Responding to service requests and enquiries from members of the public and other customers.
• Supporting North Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency works, claims and asset management processes.
• Maintaining training, equipment and calibration records for the section.

About you

You’ll need at least GCSE Grade C or above in English Language, Mathematics or a Science subject, along with a recognised qualification in ICT or an electro-technical discipline, or be working towards one.
You should be comfortable using word processing, email and spreadsheet software, as well as PCs and mobile devices. Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations, experience using asset management systems, and the ability to read and understand maps, including online mapping systems, will also be useful.
We’re looking for someone who can work well on their own, organise their workload, manage different priorities and communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors and members of the public. A positive approach to helping the community and providing good customer service is essential.
