Learning and Inclusion Coordinator 

House of Lords – Inclusion and Diversity Team and Learning and Organisational Development Team, Human Resources

This role is open to existing colleagues in the House of Lords Administration, House of Commons Administration and those from Joint Departments.  

As a Learning and Inclusion Coordinator in the House of Lords, you’ll play an important role in supporting the UK’s parliamentary democracy. Your work will help Members and colleagues carry out their responsibilities effectively — contributing to something bigger than any one role. 

You’ll be part of a collaborative community, working alongside colleagues from a wide range of professions. Together, we make Parliament happen. 

You’ll be based on the Parliamentary Estate in Westminster — a unique working environment shaped by history and powered by the people who work here today. 

What you’ll be doing 

This role will initially focus on supporting the Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) team and will be managed by the Head of I&D. 

In this role, you’ll: 

  • Support the I&D and Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) teams with business-as-usual project and support functions that help deliver the I&D Strategy, L&OD Workplan and People Strategy. 
  • Contribute to internal communications, SharePoint and intranet updates, helping colleagues access clear, accurate information about inclusion, diversity, learning and development. 
  • Support staff networks, Inclusion Champions and Development Champions, providing practical coordination and helping forums run effectively. 
  • Provide administrative and financial support for the teams, manage inbox queries, advise on standard Inclusion Analysis queries, and escalate complex issues where needed. 

What we’re looking for 

We’re looking for someone who can bring their skills and experience to make a meaningful contribution here. 

You’ll have: 

  • Understanding of inclusion, learning and culture – Demonstrable experience contributing to the promotion of a learning culture and an inclusive working environment. 
  • Effective communication skills– Competence in drafting a range of communications to a high standard. Ability to deliver presentations and training at varying levels within the Administration. 
  • Ability to manage business-as-usual functions– Proven ability to manage business-as-usual functions, such as event logistics and invoice processes, independently. Initiative to identify improvements within agreed processes and escalate complex problems when needed. 
  • High level of initiative to solve logistical or process problems– Proven ability to use problem-solving skills to ensure key deliverables are met. 
  • Aptitude for quality customer service– Proactive, customer and business-focused skills, including the ability to implement advice and offer resolutions based on internal policies and processes, seeking support when needed. 

 

It would be even better if you have (or are willing to learn) the: 

  • Ability to act with professionalism, tact and discretion – Demonstrable competence in managing sensitive issues tactfully and in alignment with the House of Lords Impartiality Guidance, representing the team with professionalism. 
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong working relationships– Ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including team members and colleagues from different backgrounds.
