The Compliance and Risk team is part of the University Secretary’s Office and are responsible for providing advice, guidance and strategies for compliance on a range of legal compliance topics including Data Protection, Information Security, Freedom of Information, and many more. Our role is to develop awareness of University policies, legal issues, regulations and procedures by working closely with members of the University community.

As part of this team, we are looking to recruit in the following role:

Compliance and Risk Advisor - Data Protection:

To provide specialist advice, guidance, support and training on legal and regulatory compliance in the areas of data protection and information security in a University context.

To support the Senior Compliance and Risk Advisor – Information Governance and Data Protection Officer delivering key activities, projects and compliance requirements, helping to identify and manage risks, and ensure that legal requirements are understood and applied in practice.

Working closely with the Senior Compliance and Risk Advisor – Information Governance and Data Protection Officer, the successful candidate will support the development and implementation of policies, procedures and good practice. The post holder will also act as deputy Data Protection Officer and will liaise with the Information Commissioner’s Office where appropriate.

The ability to demonstrate professional knowledge and experience within the area of data protection is essential criteria for this role.

Salary:  £41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6).  With other benefits including 37 days holiday entitlement plus Bank Holidays, plus membership of the USS Career Average Revalued Benefits section of the Scheme.

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended.
