Contract Type: Fixed Term (12 months)

The Department of Architecture is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join DESIGN HOPES. Design HOPES aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence, promoting and embedding best practice through our collaborative design-led thinking and making approaches to build a more equitable and sustainable health and social care system. As a Research Associate, you will play a lead role in relation to a design and delivery of Home Health to Patient Health project. The project is focused on impact delivery and will involve finalising design of toolkit, engaging with GPs and healthcare practitioners across Scotland, carrying out interviews and workshops as well as disseminating and writing this up across a range of channels.

You will write up research work for publication in collaboration with colleagues, and disseminate the results via peer reviewed journal publications, policy consultations and presentation at conferences. You will join external networks to share information and ideas, inform the development of research objectives and identify potential future sources of funding. You will collaborate with colleagues to ensure the development of knowledge exchange activities by, for example, participating in initiatives which establish research links with industry and influence public policy and the professions.

To be considered for the role, you will be educated to a minimum of PhD level in an appropriate discipline, or have significant relevant experience in addition to a relevant degree. You will have sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge in design research as well as experience of qualitative research particularly visual communication and arts installation methods drawing on mixed media techniques. You will have a developing ability to conduct individual research work, manage and conduct fieldwork, maintain records of the research process, manage data and disseminate results and engage in the dissemination of project findings including teaching materials. You will have an ability to plan and organise your own workload effectively and an ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic academic environment. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.

Interviews have been scheduled for Monday 28th September 2026.
