Employer Engagement Officer

Futureworks is Pembrokeshire County Council's employability and skills service, delivering high-quality employment, skills and progression programmes that help people overcome barriers to work and achieve sustainable employment across Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and results-driven Employer Engagement Officer to join our team, working across Ceredigion to develop strong relationships with employers and create opportunities for people seeking employment.
The role will primarily support delivery of the DWP Restart Scheme, which has been extended until June 2028, providing intensive employment support to people who have been unemployed for an extended period. Working closely with local businesses, training providers and employment advisers, you will help connect employers with motivated candidates while supporting local workforce growth.
About the role
As an Employer Engagement Officer, you will build and maintain productive employer partnerships, identify recruitment opportunities, and help participants move into sustainable employment. You'll work in a fast-paced, target-focused environment where relationship building, commercial awareness and excellent communication skills are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and grow relationships with local, regional and national employers.
- Generate sustainable job opportunities, vacancies and work placements that meet employer needs and participant aspirations.
- Promote Futureworks' employability programmes and employer services across Ceredigion.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Employer Engagement Strategy, identifying opportunities to expand employer networks and support business growth.
- Work closely with Employability Advisers and programme teams to understand participant skills, match candidates to vacancies and identify future recruitment needs.
- Develop talent pipelines by working with employers to understand emerging skills shortages and growth sectors.
- Maintain accurate employer records and performance information to support contractual targets and outcomes.
About you
We're looking for someone who is confident building relationships, enjoys working with businesses and is motivated by achieving positive outcomes.
You will ideally have experience in:
- Employer engagement, recruitment, business development, sales or account management.
- Working in a target-driven environment.
- Developing strong stakeholder relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
- Matching people to employment opportunities and delivering excellent customer service.
A strong understanding of the Ceredigion labour market, local employers and regional economic priorities will be a distinct advantage.
A full driving licence and access to transport are essential, as regular travel throughout Ceredigion is required.
