Are you looking for a rewarding role in social care supporting customers in their own home as part of our Independent Living Communities? 

The City of York Council’s Personal Support Services are now recruiting for some great full time and part time working night opportunities within Glen Lodge and Auden House.

You may have limited experience or qualifications in this field, but we are happy to work with you to reach the standard required to develop into an excellent Support Worker. 

As a Night Time Support Worker, you will be supporting customers living in their own homes within York delivering personal care and promoting living skills to enable customers to maximise their independence.  The duties are varied, so no two shifts will be the same.

Key skills and experience required:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to record defensible documentation.
  • Work within a team/able to use your own initiative.
  • Able to administer medication.
  • Confidence to work with other professionals and families.
  • Commitment to identifying personal development and attend mandatory training.

 You will be supported by the organisation to work within the legal framework i.e. safeguarding/CQC and given the training and support you need, such as obtaining a desired qualification in health and social care.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
