Job summary

If you are the kind of person who can turn an ordinary Tuesday into something residents look forward to, loves coming up with new ideas, enjoys making people laugh and gets genuine satisfaction from seeing someone else's face light up, we would love to hear from you.

This is much more than organising activities. We want someone who can get to know our residents as individuals, discover what makes them smile, understand their interests and life stories, and create opportunities that give them a sense of purpose, connection and enjoyment.

A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to people's every day lives, working within a supportive and friendly team environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Getting to know each resident and developing activities around their personal interests, hobbies, memories and abilities.
  • Supporting residents to maintain connections with their families, friends and wider community.
  • Capturing and celebrating residents' achievements and experiences through photographs, displays, newsletters and social media where appropriate.
  • Working closely with the care team to ensure activities support residents' wellbeing, independence and quality of life.
  • Creating an atmosphere where residents, families and colleagues feel welcome, valued and involved.

Job description

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic and caring Activities Coordinator to join our team.

This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys being around people, building relationships and bringing a little extra joy into people's day. You will be responsible for creating and coordinating a varied programme of activities that supports the wellbeing, interests, independence and social connection of our residents.

  • Creating and delivering a varied programme of activities that is fun, stimulating, inclusive and meaningful.
  • Get to know residents individually, including their interests, hobbies, life stories and personal preferences.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities while respecting those who prefer quieter or individual pursuits.
  • Organise creative activities such as arts and crafts, baking, gardening, music, games and reminiscence sessions.
  • Arrange entertainment and special events, including visiting musicians, performers and community groups.
  • Organise seasonal celebrations, birthdays and special occasions.
  • Creating an atmosphere where residents, families and colleagues feel welcome, valued and involved.
  • Support residents to maintain links with their local community, families and friends.
  • Adapt activities for residents living with dementia, physical disabilities or varying levels of ability.
  • Work closely with care staff and families to ensure activities are meaningful and person-centred.
  • Keep appropriate records of activities and resident participation.

About us

A Home Away from Home

At Ami Group, we want our homes to feel just that, a home. Somewhere our residents feel comfortable, cared for and valued.

We are a family-run group of care homes, and our family values are at the heart of how we work. We have two care homes in Deal; Ami Group (Ami Court and The Knoll units) and Brook Lodge (Jasmine and Lotus units). We provide a range of care including nursing, residential, dementia, rehabilitation and palliative care across our homes in Deal.

We aim to create a warm, welcoming and homely environment where our residents can enjoy their lives, stay as independent as possible and feel part of a community.

We also believe that looking after our staff is just as important as looking after our residents. We want our teams to feel supported, appreciated and part of the Ami Group family.

If you join us, you will be joining a team where people genuinely matter.
