Job summary

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our friendly and supportive nursing team consisting of an ANP, 4 Nurses and 2 HCAs.

The post-holder will deliver high-quality, care to our patients, working alongside and under the support of our nursing and wider practice team.

You will be supporting the management of long-term conditions, supporting public health programmes, for example weight management, completing health checks and providing health promotion advice to our patients

This is an exciting opportunity to develop as an HCA and to further your skill set.

18-20 hours ideally to include a Tuesday

Main duties of the job

Undertake new patient health checks

Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes

Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately

Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

Carry out BMI checks as directed

Act as a chaperone as required

When trained, undertake venepuncture

When trained, administer flu vaccinations

Support infection prevention and control IPC standards

Maintain accurate clinical records using appropriate coding systems

Carry out ECGs as requested

When trained, to carry out ABPI

When trained, to carry our FENO testing

Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation

Provide support during Coil and Minor Ops clinics as required

Ensure clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session

Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team MDT and wider PCN

Recognise clinical boundaries and refer appropriately to GPs or other professionals

Support the delivery of QOF targets and enhanced services
