Barnsley MBC has a strategic commitment to end Rough Sleeping. Our vision is to provide people with the right accommodation and support to build their resilience and sustain independent living.  To support this vision a Housing led support team has been established.

The Housing Led Support Team uses evidenced based approaches to provide personalised, trauma informed support to people who are rough sleeping or who are at risk of rough sleeping. Support is provided at the projects 24-hour residential base or in the community.

We are looking for people who share our commitment and passion for ending rough sleeping. You will be able to work with people who have a range of needs and behaviours with empathy, patience, and persistence.

We are seeking to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic, and motivated Housing Led Caseworker who will act as the lead professional for the people we support. You will provide open ended support to a small caseload; sticking with people until they are truly settled. You will be skilled in providing high quality professional assessments of need and delivering high quality tailored support to people with a range of needs, including homelessness, mental health, offending and substance misuse issues.

It is essential that you are able to work in close partnership with a range of services to help meet the needs of the people you support.  Been a great listener and excellent communicator is therefore a must. You will have a hands-on, dynamic, and proactive approach to support as well as believing in the aims of the project and sharing the values that unpin it; in that you believe everyone should have a home.

The right person will be committed to creating and working in a psychologically informed environment, always willing to try new approaches in meeting the needs of the people you support.

The post will work to a rota providing evening and weekend cover at the project’s accommodation unit. At other times you will need to work flexibly around the needs of the people you support.

Shift patterns are typically:

9am -5pm Monday – Friday - however this needs to be flexible

Each week (Monday to Friday) you will be expected to work one shift 2pm to 10pm

Every 6 weeks you will work.

One weekend 8am-2.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday

One weekend 2pm -10pm on both Saturday and Sunday

Alternative rest days during the week are provided for working these shifts.
