Overall Job Purpose

As a Recovery Officer, you’ll help fund essential local services by support residents and recovering unpaid council tax, business rates, BID Levy and Housing Benefit Overpayments. This is your change to combine problem-solving with people skills in a role that truly impacts your community.
What You’ll Do
Negotiate fair and sustainable repayment plans with residents.
Take enforcement action when necessary, following legislation and policy.
Work closely with enforcement agents, courts and internal teams.
Deliver excellent customer service with empathy and professionalism.
Provide residents with information on where to obtain free, confidential debt advice from trusted organisations such as Citizens Advice, StepChange and National Debtline.
What We’re Looking For
Experience in debt recovery or local government is desirable (but not essential)
Strong communicate and negotiation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively.
Ability to multi-task effectively, prioritising work in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of council tax legislation is an advantage – training provided
IT literate with great attention to detail.
