We have an opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to deliver Calculus 3: Transforms & Models, BUEM021S6.

You will contribute to teaching and supporting student along the below:

Indicative Syllabus

Laplace transforms: the Laplace transform of elementary functions, properties of the Laplace transform, inversion of the Laplace transform, solving differential equations using Laplace transforms and the convolution of two functions.

Fourier series: periodic functions, the Fourier series of a function, finding the coefficients of a Fourier series, even and odd functions and their Fourier series, convergence of Fourier series, non-periodic functions, application of Fourier series in the solution of partial differential equations.

Dynamical systems: systems of linear differential equations, coupled systems, autonomous systems, stability, critical points, phase plane analysis, trajectories, fixed solutions, periodic solutions.

Models: Richardson's arms race model, combat models, SIR model of epidemics, competing species, predator-prey models.

Remuneration:

Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £69.68 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.

Contract:

Fixed-term (6-months), part-time contract, module runs 1.5 hours per week Autumn and Spring term.

Start date October 2026, to be confirmed after the interview.
