An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking to appoint a Band 3 Infection Prevention and Control Support Worker, to be based at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, also involving travel to our second site at Ellesmere Port Hospital.

You will be joining a highly motivated and proactive team and will have an active role in providing support to develop, maintain and sustain all aspects of infection prevention and control service delivery within the Trust; working closely with the Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurses, other team members and other healthcare partners/agencies. This role will require individuals to be able to take part in a seven day working rota, in support of delivering a seven day infection prevention and control service.

The successful candidate will have previous acute healthcare experience and possess a keen interest in infection prevention and control.

Main duties of the job

Support the Infection Prevention and Control Team with the assessment of patients' nursing/clinical needs in relation to infection prevention and control.

Collect and report information, maintaining accurate patient records of any infection prevention and control advice given.

Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, carers/relatives and service users, and professionals across health and social services.

Support with the undertaking audits of compliance with infection prevention and control policies and procedures and liaise with appropriate clinical staff at time of audit, drawing attention to matters of urgency.

Participate in the dissemination of audit findings promptly to appropriate staff groups, supporting the collation of action plans in response to audit findings and ensuring that recommendations are implemented and infection prevention and control standards maintained.

Collect relevant and valid surveillance data using electronic/paper data capture systems, as per Trust infection prevention and control surveillance programme.

Support the infection prevention and control team in the implementation and maintenance of the Trust infection prevention and control programme.

Contribute to the development and delivery of the Trust infection prevention and control training and education programme.
