Job summary

This a new post and is for a full time Substantive Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist. This post is based in Swansea but some duties may be held in other parts of the Health Board. It is offered on the amended terms of the Consultant Contract.

The post is offered initially on a 10-session contract with on call commitments. The department is willing to consider flexible working arrangements depending on the individual needs of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate must be fully registered with the General Medical Council and should reside within 30 minutes (approx. 10 miles) of their base hospital.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work this number of sessions would also be eligible to be considered for the post, and the post is subject to the terms and conditions of service governing the appointment of hospital medical and dental staff in Wales.

GYNAECOLOGICAL ONCOLOGY SERVICE:

The Swansea Gynaecological Oncology Centre (SGOC) is based at Singleton Hospital and serves a population of approximately one million patients. A full complement of specialist and supportive services are provided, with surgical and non-surgical oncology teams based at the same site. In addition to Singleton hospital the surgical team provides services at Morriston hospital.
