Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer to join the general office team within Cellular Pathology, Integrated Laboratory Medicine at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle upon Tyne in a full time position.
Cellular Pathology is one of the largest laboratories of its kind in the UK and is a major specialist centre, teaching hospital and referral centre.

Main duties of the job
Working under the guidance of the senior administrative team, you will play a vital role in helping deliver accurate and timely results to our patients.We are seeking individuals who are comfortable working in a fast paced and occasionally demanding environment who have a strong desire to contribute to the success of our cellular pathology laboratory.
General duties include a variety of duties including but are not restricted to:
- Handling/booking in/out slides and specimen blocks
- Filing of request forms
- Sending out reports by post
- Returning referred material to external hospitals
- Trolley runs to transport material from the laboratory to the reporting Pathologists
- Handling telephone calls
- Typing laboratory reports using audio transcription
- Supporting the senior administrative team
Job description
To work as part of a team providing an efficient and effective clerical support service in Cellular Pathology. Clerical duties include but are not limited to filing of request forms, sending out reports by post, returning referred material to other hospitals trolley runs to transport material from the laboratory to the reporting Pathologists and handling telephone calls.
