Job summary

Two Band 6 (AfC) roles have been added to the safeguarding team to expand the successful Northbank ED Navigator programme across the Humber Bridge to our Emergency Departments on the Southbank.

Working closely with the exiting Navigators, Emergency Department Teams, Violence Reduction Unit and Humberside Police the ED Navigator will support victims of violence who attend the Emergency Department.

These posts are suitable for individuals with a professional healthcare registration, social care registration or significant experience in the police and/or judiciary system.

Main duties of the job

The main aim of the ED Navigator project is to provide additional support for young people within the wider community that attend Humber Health Partnership, Emergency Departments who have experienced violence with injury.The objectives are to facilitate a reduction in hospital admissions, serious violence and domestic homicides especially among those aged 11- 35 years who have been identified as being impacted by serious violence. This will be achieved through support and guidance to encourage engagement with services and promote movement away from violence.

The post holder will offer specialist advice, advocacy, emotional support and information to victims of violence and their next of kin, dependents or associates when dealing with highly distressing circumstances such as issues around Safeguarding Children or Adults at risk. In addition to being emotionally available to offer support to the Emergency Department staff should using a trauma informed approach.
