About the role

We are looking for an experienced nursing academic to join the University of Leicester as Lecturer in Nursing and Healthcare Foundation Programme Lead. Based in our School of Healthcare, you will lead the design, implementation, delivery and evaluation of teaching and assessment for our newly established Healthcare Foundation Programme. Initially encompassing Nursing, Midwifery, Radiography and Operating Department Practice, the programme offers an exciting opportunity to shape an inclusive and forward-thinking educational experience for future healthcare professionals. The School is responsible for educating healthcare professionals across a broad range of disciplines, creating a collaborative environment in which to develop this important programme.

You will lead the development and continuous improvement of course material and academic modules, manage and develop programme staff, and represent the programme at the School Education Committee. Alongside research-inspired teaching, assessment and student support, you will contribute to educational strategy, pedagogical scholarship and initiatives that enhance student outcomes. You will also build productive relationships across the University and with placement providers, practice assessors and external partners.

About you

You will be a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and hold a degree in Nursing at 2:1 or above. You will bring experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, a strong record of positive student outcomes and progression, and demonstrable leadership in learning and teaching. You will have contributed to scholarship in your discipline, supported the development of students and colleagues, and shown an ongoing commitment to enhancing your own teaching practice. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, an equivalent accredited teaching qualification, or a commitment to gain one within an agreed timescale following appointment is also required.

An effective communicator and collaborative colleague, you will be able to design high-quality learning resources and use a range of teaching approaches, including lectures, seminars and tutorials. You will bring strong organisational, coaching, mentoring and pastoral skills, together with a commitment to excellent student support, equity and an awareness of diverse community needs. Experience of continuing professional development, postgraduate study in an appropriate field, distance learning, or using research and professional practice to improve curricula would be welcomed.
