Job summary

The post holder will be accountable for leading on all aspects of quality management related to nursing practice within the multi-speciality, predominately nurse-led ambulatory day care service.

They will provide a visible presence with strong professional, clinical, and managerial leadership to develop nursing at a strategic and operational level within the service, ensuring that nursing care is delivered to a high standard and that the nursing resource is managed effectively. The post holder will provide specialist knowledge, support, and advice on ambulatory day care to patients, carers, and across the service as a whole.

Working closely with the Matron, Clinical Leads, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Operational and Service Managers and wider team, the post holder will help drive and shape the service as it evolves to meet the demands of commissioners and the local community, whilst supporting continued development of advanced nursing practice within the service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the speciality.

To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of direct patient care.

To work weekdays with occasional weekends and to monitor quality of service.

To take overall responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of the Quality & Safety boards and daily monitoring of planned vs actual staffing levels.

To monitor and ensure a positive focussed service incorporating patients' feedback to improve patient care.

To be responsible for the supervision and development of all staff

To effectively manage the unit resources, i.e. pay and non-pay budget, human resources, the clinical environment and daily management of unit space

To ensure compliance of mandatory training and appraisal requirements for all nursing staff.

To act as an effective role model and mentor promoting excellence through practice.
