Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Department of Clinical Haematology at Manchester Royal Infirmary as a Senior Locally Employed Doctor.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for doctors who have completed IMT-level training and wish to gain broad experience in clinical haematology before applying for specialty training. It is equally suited to doctors seeking a longer-term middle-grade role or considering a future CESR pathway.
Working within one of the UK's leading tertiary haematology centres, you will gain exposure to malignant and non-malignant haematology, stem cell transplantation, cellular therapies, haemostasis and thrombosis, haemoglobinopathies, lymphoma, myeloma and general haematology. You will work alongside a highly experienced multidisciplinary team and benefit from excellent training, teaching and research opportunities.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to haematology patients across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing patients within inpatient wards, day units and outpatient clinics.
- Participating in specialist haematology services including transplantation, myeloma, lymphoma, haemostasis and thrombosis, haemoglobinopathy and general haematology.
- Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings and departmental educational activities.
- Developing procedural and diagnostic skills, including opportunities to participate in bone marrow harvest procedures and laboratory-based learning.
- Supporting clinical audit, quality improvement and governance activities.
- Teaching and supporting undergraduate medical students and junior doctors.
- Participating in the middle-grade on-call rota, including evenings, nights and weekends.
