Job summary

Heaton Moor Medical Group is seeking an experienced, motivated and highly organised Assistant Practice Manager to join our senior management team.

Working directly with the Operations / Practice Manager, you will support the effective day-to-day running of the practice and take ownership of key areas of performance, contractual delivery, workforce management, governance and service improvement.

Main duties of the job

Core areas of responsibility

  • Lead the monitoring and delivery of QOF, BECCOR, enhanced services and other contractual requirements, ensuring evidence, coding, claims and deadlines are managed effectively.
  • Use EMIS, Ardens and practice data to identify gaps, coordinate searches and recalls, and translate performance information into focused action plans.
  • Support the day-to-day operational management of the practice, resolving issues promptly and maintaining safe, effective services across the organisation.
  • Help plan, organise and attend additional and seasonal clinics, including the flu vaccination programme, with responsibility for staffing, rotas, capacity, patient flow, invitations and uptake.
  • Support managers and team leaders with recruitment, induction, performance, attendance, development and day-to-day workforce matters.

Job description

This senior role will coordinate and develop our work across the Primary Care Network, neighbourhood and wider system, while taking a lead role in the delivery and monitoring of BECCOR requirements. You will connect strategy with operational delivery and ensure that collaborative programmes translate into well-managed services for patients and teams.

This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, worked over either 4 or 5 days. For applicants choosing a 4-day week, the regular non-working day will be either Tuesday or Thursday, to be agreed on appointment.

Flexibility is essential. The postholder will be expected to attend additional clinics and key practice events when required, including occasions that may fall outside their usual working pattern.

  • Lead and coordinate HMMG's involvement in PCN, neighbourhood and wider system programmes, maintaining clear oversight of priorities, actions and outcomes.
  • Take a lead role in BECCOR, including monitoring achievement, identifying gaps, coordinating actions, maintaining evidence and ensuring requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Support delivery of the PCN Network Contract DES, enhanced services and locally commissioned initiatives, with effective monitoring of specifications, funding, claims and submissions.
  • Translate performance information into practical improvement plans and coordinate delivery across clinical, managerial and administrative teams.
  • Support the implementation of new PCN and neighbourhood services, ensuring clear processes, appropriate capacity, effective communication and measurable outcomes.
  • Coordinate and support ARRS and multidisciplinary teams where applicable, helping PCN-funded roles andservices integrate effectively with practice teams.
  • Attend and represent HMMG at relevant PCN, neighbourhood, BECCOR and system meetings, ensuring decisionsand agreed actions are communicated and progressed.
  • Produce clear performance reports and updates for the Operations / Practice Manager and senior managementteam.
  • Build effective relationships with GP practices, community services and wider health and care partners,identifying opportunities for collaborative delivery.
  • Support workforce planning, service capacity, governance, audit and CQC evidence relating to PCN,neighbourhood and BECCOR services.
  • Contribute to wider strategic and operational projects, provide senior management support and deputise whenrequired.
