Senior Speech and Language Therapy Assistant - Band 4

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to develop their speech, language and communication skills?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our friendly Children's Speech and Language Therapy team in Coventry.

You will work closely with Speech and Language Therapists and other professionals to support children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs. You will have opportunities to deliver evidence-based speech, language and communication interventions, working directly with children, families and education settings.

Main duties of the job

You will work with children and young people aged 0-19 years, supporting a wide range of speech, language and communication needs across a variety of settings ( eg family homes, nurseries, mainstream schools, special schools, clinic). Our therapists and assistants work collaboratively with families, education settings and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure children and young people achieve the best possible outcomes.

You will provide clinical and non-clinical support to registered speech & language therapists, implementing therapy programmes, devised by a therapist, for groups and individual children. You will modify approaches and activities within programmes to meet the needs of individual children/groups, in order to meet defined intervention aims.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children and young people.
  • Has significant experience of working alongsideSpeech and Language Therapists and delivering intervention programmes.
  • Has an understanding of speech, language and communication needs.
  • Is confident delivering speech, language and communication interventions under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Is enthusiastic, creative and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills and is able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
