We are looking for passionate and dedicated Healthcare Support Worker's to join our Emergency Care Department. As a member of our dynamic team, you will be at the forefront of providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients in need of urgent attention. we therefore look for candidates with experience of healthcare.

This vacancy does not meet the Home Office threshold for sponsorship and requires candidates to complete a training period. We are unable to accept applications from candidates who do not have the right to work in the UK or where candidates do not have at least 9 months remaining on their visa from the start date of the new role.

If you are joining as a band 2 this position is part of a development programme that supports you to grow into a band 3 role, with a pay increase upon successful completion. The programme is designed to help you develop new skills, gain valuable healthcare experience and take the next step in your NHS career. If you are already working in a Band 3 HCSW role in the NHS, we will assess your experience and responsibilities against the competencies required for this position. Where these competencies are met, we will match your current pay and banding.

Whilst there is no expectation a number of our HCSW's go onto complete their Nursing Degree Apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will work alongside Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals across a variety of clinical settings, providing high-quality care and support to patients while developing skills and knowledge.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Taking patient observations
  • Assisting with ECGs and clinical procedures
  • Supporting patient assessment and monitoring
  • Supporting patients with mobility and transfers
  • Assisting with admissions, transfers and discharges
  • Maintaining clinical equipment and stock levels
  • Collecting specimens for testing
  • Providing reassurance to patients and relatives
  • Working collaboratively with nurses, doctors and the wider healthcare team

The Emergency Department operates 24/7, so some flexibility will be required to meet service needs. Our department is known for its innovative approach and is increasingly recognised for its clinical academic work in emergency care, enabling us to deliver expert care, education, and support to patients with complex needs during their most critical moments.

  • Be able to work a variety of shifts as part of your work roster. You will cover somemornings(shifts could start from 7am ending around 3pm),short days & long days(shifts are generally 8 12 hours long and occur between 7am and 8pm),evenings(till around 8pm) andnights (from around 7pm to 7am the next day
  • Be available to work any day from Monday to Sunday depending on your shift pattern, including bank holidays
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are happy to carry out a variety of tasks - including personal hygiene care to patients of all ages and backgrounds
