Therapy Lead - Liverpool Women's Hospital Dietetics - Band 8a Dietitian

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dietitian to join Liverpool Women's Hospital (LWH) as Therapy Lead for Dietetics. This Band 8a role will provide visible clinical and operational leadership for dietetic services, ensuring safe, effective, person-centred care and supporting the delivery of high-quality services. The role is based at LWH, with professional leadership, support and collaboration through the wider Therapies Leadership Team based at the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Working closely with maternity, diabetes, oncology and wider multidisciplinary teams, you will support clinical and operational service delivery and development across inpatient and outpatient pathways, helping to improve outcomes and experiences for women, babies and families. You will work collaboratively with clinical teams, senior leaders and external partners to support integrated, responsive and evidence-based care.

The post holder will lead the dietetic team, including line management, recruitment and retention, appraisal, supervision, workforce planning and staff development.

Applicants must have current HCPC registration as a Dietitian, significant relevant post-registration experience, evidence of leadership development, and experience of managing clinical quality, people, budgets, performance and service improvement.

Main duties of the job

You will demonstrate a coaching and compassionate leadership style, enabling staff engagement, professional development and delivery of high-performing services aligned to Trust values.

Quality and safety are central to the role. You will contribute to clinical governance, risk management, audit, patient experience, safeguarding and learning from complaints and incidents. You will use data, evidence and quality indicators to inform decisions, monitor performance, develop action plans and lead improvements in practice, pathways and service delivery.

You will also contribute to service planning, business cases, financial management and delivery of cost-effective services, working with colleagues to identify opportunities for innovation and transformation.

Job description

As part of the Therapies Leadership Team, you will work alongside other Therapy Leads, Professional Leads and Team Leads, with support from the Head Therapist and wider Senior Leadership Team.

You will help ensure operational plans and performance are closely managed, proactively identifying solutions to operational issues in line with Trust objectives, quality standards and available resources.

You will demonstrate compassionate, collaborative and coaching-based leadership, supporting staff engagement, development and empowerment across a diverse workforce.

You will contribute to strategic direction, policy implementation and service improvement within the Care Group, ensuring effective two-way communication between senior leaders and clinical teams.

You will have line management responsibility for Band 7 clinical AHPs and will support the development of high-performing, values-led teams.
