Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated Specialist Registrar to join our Gastroenterology and General Medicine team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy acute hospital, managing patients with a wide range of gastroenterological, hepatology, and complex general medical conditions.

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the ward under consultant supervision, providing high-quality inpatient care and contributing to outpatient gastroenterology and hepatology clinics.

Job description

Providing high-quality clinical care for patients admitted under Gastroenterology and General Medicine.

Participating in consultant-led ward rounds and independently reviewing patients as appropriate.

Assessing and managing acutely unwell patients and escalating concerns in a timely manner.

Developing and implementing evidence-based management plans for patients with a wide range of gastroenterological and medical conditions.

Supporting the delivery of Gastroenterology and Hepatology outpatient clinics, with appropriate consultant supervision.

Performing clinical procedures appropriate to the grade and level of competence.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and liaising effectively with other specialties to ensure coordinated patient care.

Supervising, supporting, and contributing to the education and development of junior doctors and medical students.

Ensuring safe, effective, and timely handover of patient care in accordance with Trust policies and governance standards.

Participating in clinical audit, quality improvement projects, service development initiatives, and clinical governance activities.

Maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to the delivery of safe, patient-centred care.

Engaging in continuing professional development, mandatory training, and appraisal requirements in line with GMC and Trust standards.
