Job summary

To undertake various clerical duties associated with the referral and booking process within the Ophthalmology Directorate. This to include all administrative procedures and documentation associated with a patient's admission and/or attendance to the Trust as outlined in the Patient Access Policy OP39

It is expected that staff will undertake duties relating to any aspect of service provided by the Ophthalmology Directorate and at any of the Departments in The Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust.

It is expected that staff will be able to demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising their workload and in taking decisions and action within clearly defined limits.

To ensure patient confidentiality is always maintained.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the accurate in-put, up-date and amend patient related information onto the computerised Patient Administration System, and Electronic Referral System (ERS).

To support with PIFU (patient initiated follow up) cohort and manage all required administrative duties associated with managing this service.Support the management of vetting/triaging referrals (CAS) for the consultant body.

To accurately record reasons for patient cancellation/changes of appointments, including rebooking appointments as requested.

To adhere to the 18-week Referral to Treatment Trust Guidelines (RTT) and to ensure that the 18 week referral to treatment pathways are opened and closed appropriately.

To process all incoming Fast Track referral letters in accordance with Trust policy, ensuring accurate input onto the Hospital EPR system and book outpatient appointments agreed within Trust targets.
