Job summary
As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play an important role in maintaining clean, safe, hygienic and welcoming environments across Jewish Care services. Working as part of the Hospitality team, you will deliver high standards of housekeeping, support laundry duties, follow infection control and safe working procedures, and assist with events and festivals. You will also monitor supplies, report hazards or maintenance issues, and ensure waste is managed appropriately. Your work will directly contribute to the comfort, dignity and wellbeing of the people who use our services, including older people and people living with dementia or other support needs. We are looking for someone with housekeeping or cleaning experience who takes pride in their work, works well independently and as part of a team, and understands the care and sensitivity needed when working around vulnerable people.
Main duties of the job
Join Jewish Care as a Housekeeping Assistant and make a meaningful difference through the work you do every day. You will help create pleasant, comfortable and hygienic surroundings for the people who live in and use our services, while working alongside a supportive Hospitality team. The role includes cleaning and housekeeping, laundry duties, maintaining high standards of hygiene, supporting events and festivals, and following infection control and health and safety procedures. Job description
Our multi-award-winning organisation is looking to recruit a Housekeeping Assistant to join our Hospitality team. This role may include some weekend working.
The role of Housekeeping Assistant will involve the delivery of Hospitality Services within our Campus, Care Homes, and Community Centres to excellent standards.
This role is to work 30 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 days, including some weekends.
8.30am - 2.30pm
What you will be doing You will have a key role ensuring we deliver an excellent service to our service users, creating an inviting and pleasant environment. You will:
- Deliver housekeeping activities to the highest standard, ensuring that cleanliness levels are maintained across Jewish Care
- Ensure safe and hygienic working practices are delivered
- Support the wider hospitality teams with events and festivals.
- Provide support with laundry duties, including distribution, washing, ironing, and preparation.
- Ensure Infection Control procedures are followed
- Inspect, monitor, record, and report, products, appliances, and consumables that are required
- Ensuring general waste, both clinical and recycling, is disposed of in accordance with the Waste Disposal Policy.
- Reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Who are we looking for?
- Previous experience working within a housekeeping environment, working both independently and within a team.
- COSHH training and Current Accredited Infection Control Certificate or willingness to be trained
- Cleaning experience in similar environment with a commitment to achieving high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Understanding of the challenges and sensitivity required to support vulnerable people
