Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic registered nurse or mental health nurse to work in the Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS). This role will predominately be in our physical health team but there is also the opportunity to undertake other areas of work in the main team alongside this.

CEDS is an established multidisciplinary team which provides a service to individuals with a moderate to severe Eating Disorders.

The successful candidates will undertake the physical health aspects of the individuals care in accordance with their care plan. There is also the opportunity to undertake assessments and support therapeutic interventions within the wider team. The post holder will need to be prepared to travel clinics in Exeter, Torbay and North Devon.

Experience in undertaking physical health tests/observation and or mental health is desirable but not essential, full training will be provided. An interest in the treatment and management of eating disorders is essential.

We are looking for a clinician with excellent communication skills who enjoys working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. We need someone who is able to be flexible and deal with situations that can be unpredictable whilst remaining calm and patient focused.

Current CEDS team members includes speciality Doctors, GPS, Psychological Therapists, Specialist Mental Health Practitioners, Dietitians, Peer Support Worker, Physical Health Clinicians and Administrators.

Main duties of the job

• To work closely with other multi-disciplinary team members in the assessment of clients needs and provision of treatment to individuals with a diagnosis of an Eating Disorder.
• To provide individual psychoeducation to patients and their family/carers especially in relation to the physical health complications associated with an eating disorder
• To ensure that clinical and professional standards are maintained.
• To assess care needs, develop, implement and evaluate individual care plans & risk assessments
• To undertake physical health assessments including observations i.e. blood pressure, weigh checks, Pulse, ECGs and take bloods.
• Facilitation, promotion and supervision of education and audit.
• To promote and improve quality of service provided.
