Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and organised Healthcare support Worker to join the Diabetes Nursing team.

This role is mainly focused around assisting the team with the out patient diabetes clinics. Duties would involve preparation of the clinic setting; performing observations prior to the patient seeing the nurse or doctor; preparation of the patient prior to clinics and liaising with the administrative team.

Main duties of the job

On a day to day basis you be responsible for ensuring that the clinic rooms are prepared to see the patients and support the smooth running of the outpatient clinics. You will work under the supervision and/or direction of the registered nursing team.

You will be expected to communicate clearly and effectively with members of the public as well as the multi-disciplinary team.

You will be required to measure and document basic observations such as blood pressure, heart rate, height and weight for people with diabetes attending the clinic.

You will be expected to assist patients and carry out foot checks in the foot clinics and document accurately.

coordinate the phlebotomy service for people with diabetes that attend the clinics and even develop own skills to venepuncture during the clinic.

An interest in diabetes is desirable but training and development will be provided within the role.

Good communication skills; organisation skills and basic computer skills are required for this position.
