Project OfficerUniversity

London Part time £16,006 - £18,647 a year
Posted 18 September 2026 Closing date 11 October 2026

About the role

The National Federated Compute Services (NFCS) NetworkPlus is a two-year UKRI/EPSRC funded programme, building a community around national federated computational research services and developing two roadmaps for future UKRI investment in this space. We are about to deliver on these outcomes and have been given a 6-month extension during which we will be convening and expanding the research, technical, institutional and policy communities that will be needed to move federation from roadmap to adoption.

Within the scope of this 0.4 FTE contract, this role will work as a key member of the (part-time) Lead Team through the provision of comprehensive and highly professional project management support and senior administrative assistance to ensure that the NFCS NetworkPlus extension Programme produces its high-quality deliverables on time and to budget.

Led by Professor Jon Hays (QMUL), the Lead Team has membership from the EPCC, (University of Edinburgh), the STFC Hartree Centre, STFC Rutherford Appleton Labs, the University of Bristol and the University of Brighton. The Programme Management team consists of  this role working together with a Programme Manager (PM) and Technical Coordinators.

About you

You will be a competent project administrator, skilled across MS Office and familiar with administration-related IT systems and be able to apply database management skills to the project. Able to work unsupervised and to exercise initiative in managing your workload, you will also have experience in management of education/research-related events and managing budgets for these effectively and achieving value for money.

We are looking for someone who has good communication skills, in-person and written, who is effective at building and developing professional relationships. And if you have used compute in a research context, this would be a useful asset.

The School of Physical and Chemical Sciences is a thriving and friendly place to work and maintains a tradition of outstanding research in ground-breaking fields.
