An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists to join our pharmacy team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT).

Post 1: Clinical Homecare and High-Cost Medicines

Post 2: Clinical Homecare and Respiratory

The MYTT Homecare service has seen significant growth over recent years, with rapid growth expected to continue with the introduction of new medicines and services. Currently over 4000 patients are accessing Homecare services at MYTT over a broad range of specialities including rheumatology, gastroenterology, dermatology and respiratory.

You will work closely with the Advanced Clinical Pharmacists and clinical teams across the Trust to support the efficient delivery of a high-quality and cost-effective clinical service to our Homecare patients.

You will also be a key member of our Medicines Optimisation team, delivering a high-quality clinical pharmacy service at ward level and to our Medical Infusion Unit (MIU).

You will be part of our progressive pharmacy team, always looking for innovative and improved ways of working and striving for excellence to provide the highest standards of care for our patients. You will be based at Pinderfields Hospital, but may be required to work across all Trust sites if needed. You will contribute to the weekend, Bank holiday and emergency duty (on-call) rotas.

Main duties of the job

• Clinical validation of Homecare prescriptions across a broad range of specialities (for new and existing patients)
• Work collaboratively with clinical teams and stakeholders to plan and implement biosimilar switches
• Work to optimise the cost-effective use of High-Cost Medicines across the Homecare Service and the Medical Infusion Unit (MIU)
• Plan and carry out regular audits to demonstrate cost-effective use of medicines and adherence to local and national clinical guidance
• Produce and analyse reports on medicines spend within relevant areas
• Provide a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to a defined clinical area, for example respiratory and MIU

Job description

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in pharmacy obtained through four years undergraduate training
• Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
• Completed a diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or working towards completion) or equivalent advanced practice supported by training
• Non-medical prescribing qualification (or working towards completion) or willing to complete

Experience:

• A broad experience of clinical working in a number of speciality areas at a developed level

Knowledge and Awareness/Skills and abilities:

• Good clinical knowledge
• Awareness of limitations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
